I found these kiteboarders off a beach nearby the famous Dubai landmark – the Burj Al Arab hotel. I soon realized that these enthusiasts move incredibly fast but I was able to compose this one shot against the Burj Al Arab itself, capturing the sails of two boarders as they traveled in opposing directions. My young daughter christened it simply ‘Three’. (Nikon F80; 2003)

The Omani people are naturally friendly, and if you ask, are generally happy to be photographed. This boy was one of a group trying to sell locally made goats hair rugs near the top of a mountain called Jebel Shams. (Nikon F80; 2003)
